Let's work together to:

Love where we live for years to come with long-term planning

-My goal is to ease the growing pains for our residents, preserving the heart and charm of our city with thoughtful growth and fiscal responsibility

-I've used my knowledge of process improvement and strategic development tactics to work with organizations from the tiny non-profit to a Fortune 500, collaborating with key stakeholders and driving  long-term success

Involve residents in development discussions for proactive collaboration.

-My goal is to communicate and work with residents early in the discussion phase of any potential development, to help ensure we are making choices to positively impact lives of those we serve.

-As a musical theater director, I have experience with seeking and including a cross-sectional team of people to bring a variety of skills and essential perspective.

Create places and programs for artistic passion and cultural heritage to prosper

-My goal is to enrich and connect our community through the power of art, supporting local artists and bringing exciting cultural programs that inspire creativity and bring people together.

-I have seen participants of all ages erupt with joy when they were able to express themselves through art and I want that for our community.

Develop resilient residents - so disasters don't feel disastrous

-My goal is to strengthen community resilience both at the city level and at the residential level by empowering households with tools and knowledge

-In my family we have experienced the confidence and stability that comes from being prepared to weather a storm. I believe our  community is only as resilient as our least prepared resident. The more prepared we are, the better equipped we are to help others in need.

Who am I?

Hi! I'm Heather ...

In essence, I am a
multiple-hat-wearing
wife,
mom,
innovator,
optimist,
leader,
artist, and
advocate,
learning how to wear the hats
(not let the hats wear me).

I'm Heather Stamper and I'm a proud Schertz resident. My family has been part of the Schertz community for 10 years. And I want Schertz to thrive.

I continue to serve on the executive board of the council at Founders Classical Academy in Schertz, where our oldest son - a senior - attends high school; volunteer as producer and tech for Crosspoint Fellowship church; and balance our family needs with my freelance business.

Throughout my life, I've had somewhat divergent pursuits: business and the arts. I've served as the Executive Director for two artistic non-profits, and VP for an international financial giant's Innovation Department, where I earned a Six Sigma Lean Green Belt for process improvement, saving tens of millions of dollars and earning a national-level award. Through those opportunities I have  acquired valuable business acumen (see my Management Resume), all of which is incredibly helpful when serving on committees and boards and in entrepreneurship. Additionally, I've continued in artistic pursuits which fulfill me creatively and give me energy: performing, directing, writing and teaching (see my Performance CV). In every role I've held, my goal has been to "leave the place better than I found it" - advice my Mom gave me as a teenager when I first started babysitting. That adage has inspired me to success in many areas of life, and what inspires me now to run for City Council.

Even if you've lived in Schertz for just a little while, you've seen Schertz change considerably. Schertz is rapidly growing, experiencing an influx of residents and businesses. In order to protect the sanctity of the character of Schertz, it is essential we make strategic, thoughtful decisions about the ways in which development occurs. Let's balance opportunity with responsibility while helping Schertz thrive, maintaining the character so many residents sought out when choosing to call this city their home.

My family has personally benefitted from the increased access to health care and availability of other quality-of-life amenities, and we are grateful for the leadership which has seen fit to promote bringing these to Schertz. We are home to a host of talented artists and yet our limited offerings for local cultural and artistic opportunities are driving residents to seek opportunities outside Schertz. I'd like for City Council to actively seek ways to cultivate artistic programming which will empower artists, foster creativity, and honor the diverse voices of our citizenry within Schertz.

The decisions we make today will impact the community of Schertz for many years to come.

We can embrace growth and cherish charm.

Texas is the only home our two teenage boys have known, mostly here in Schertz, where we've all found meaningful friendships through the arenas of work, school, church, and personal pursuits.

My husband is a fully retired disabled veteran, and together we persist in our attempts to grow a garden and complete home improvement projects while guiding our other son, an eighth grader who is doing an online version of homeschooling.

My goal in running for City Council is simply this: to work alongside residents and businesses to help Schertz thrive, ...

because this is home.

Priorities and Promises

I will

Seek and speak truth, communicating with the intent to obtain mutual understanding.

I will

Promote the character of Schertz, balancing opportunity with responsibility.

I will

Endeavor to represent all Schertz residents and businesses, giving voice to the underrepresented.

Why you won't see signs

The election cycle often fills our roadsides with signs, but I've chosen not to use them in my campaign at this time. While they share my name, they don't help you get to know me or what my values are. Signs are costly, and I believe it is important to use funds responsibly, as it reflects how I would manage taxpayer dollars if elected.
Instead, I'm focusing on real conversations, engaging directly with you to understand your priorities and build stronger connections. I'd appreciate your help in spreading my message the old fashioned way - through conversation (and texting works, too!). I believe a personal message from you holds more value than a sign on the side of the road. Your voice truly matters!  And please get in touch with me directly - I'd love to hear from you.

Get involved

This is a super grass roots campaign. If you have just a few
minutes your efforts would be greatly appreciated. What
kinds of things? Mostly just doing the kinds of things you
probably already do, like put a post on Facebook, talk to
friends, visit neighbors, and make phone calls. Get in touch
and let's figure it out together. I'm positive your skills will be
useful and it's always more fun to do things together.
